Jeanne Hemingway Sharpe Hamm Coleman
1913-1988
While Jeanne lived in a townhouse on Edgington Lane in Wheeling, she met a neighbor, John Coleman, John was Jeanne's age, handsome, and charming; and they soon fell in love. Jeanne and John Miller Coleman were soon thereafter married in Miami-Dade County, FL on December 23, 1977.
In July, 1980, Jeanne and John Coleman visited John's home, pictured below with John, Scott, Katie, and Laura. During that time, John & Lynn had a new home on the water in Annapolis under renovation, and had their sailboat at the dock. One afternoon, the Coleman's and Hamm's went for a very exciting sail, during which John Coleman got the idea that he and Jeanne might like to have a boat at their home on the Gulf coast of Florida. John pursued his idea, however while climbing on boats at a boat dealer, he slipped and fell, injuring his ribs. John suffered for several months with not only the rib injury but with the diagnosis that he had an advanced form of Cancer.
John Coleman died on October 2, 1980. After his burial in New Port Richey, FL, John flew to Florida, and he and Jeanne drove her car back to Annapolis. After a visit there, Jeanne drove to Wheeling, stayed with Mary and Esther for a time, after which she found a new home of her own.
